Keeping kids in school is essential in giving them a chance to break out of the cycle of poverty in which they find themselves. Then once in school, they need the tools to be competive--to have the opportunity to learn real-world skills. Our scholarship program helps kids get into and stay in school while the Rainbow program provides school supplies. Then, beyond school supplies, we also provide equipment kids need as they move into advanced grades, such as computers and peripherals.
As the schools themselves are impoverished, we have built a 10-station computer lab at Genaro Vasquez school for all students to learn not only computer skills, but English as a second language through specialized software and headsets. We've brought in desks and teacher's supplies, and we've built, rebuilt, and refurbished school buildings when needed.
What do children need to succeed? This is what we've asked ourselves and then acted accordingly. Take a look at the photo gallery and the three links here to get a clearer idea of how we assist children with their education and how you can help. |
