Since moving our headquarters from Washington, DC back to California in January of 2000, we refocused our main efforts on Mexico, building new infrastructure and networks of people and organizations that would help us help the children better. Paul Weiss, our founder, had spent 7 years in DC working on creating new standards of living and education for inner-city children in the nation's capital, as well as making new connections for our Latin-American children. Last year, we started to refocus our efforts here in the U.S. for kids who are still falling through the cracks of our system.
Remembering our strategy in the U.S., we've been looking for partners and agencies with whom we can work for children's issues in our own backyard. Providing school supplies is a natural for us, since we've been doing it for years. Being able to provide supplies for Olive Crest this year was a great start, and we're looking to do more. Take a look here at ways you can be involved in bringing hope to kids in the form of schools supplies--a necessary ingredient to a child's chance to break out of poverty. |
